Arizona style guide for a stress-free photo session experience. The dos and don’ts of what to wear for your next portrait session!
Accessories:
Hats, jewelry, suspenders, knee high socks, cardigan, vests and flower crowns adds layers.
Earth Tones:
2-3 colors in the same palette with a sprinkle of neutrals throughout. My favorite tones are olives, charcoal, rust, mocha, mauve, plum & all shades of creams!
Patterns & Textures:
Mix florals & stripes or a chunky plaid with solids. Textures such as velvet, silk, lace, corduroy adds visual interest.
Colored Pants:
Avoid blue denim and go for khaki, burgundy, grey or olive to bring out the earth tone look.
Fabrics that Move:
Lets create a dreamy look with outfits that flow such as maxi dresses or skirts. If you want a more casual look, wide leg pants or short dresses are a perfect option.
Perfect Fit:
Let me know what type of style you love such as a wrap maxi dress or off the shoulder top with a matching skirt and as your Flagstaff family photographer I will send you options that I believe will look amazing on you!
Layers:
Adding knee highs and sweaters is a sweet touch! Don’t forget the DIAPER COVER on toddlers so we can play without worrying about adjusting dresses! I recommend not having bra straps show. Women if you haven’t tried Cakesbody, I highly recommend them for a natural look!
Subtle Prints:
Soft, muted prints photograph amazing. Mixing these prints with other family members in solids works perfect!
Floral Crowns:
I have many different options of floral crowns I can provide at your session for your little girl!
My go to outfit for men is colored pants (charcoal, burnt orange, chocolate, etc) a henley long sleeve or crew neck top. Add tan lace up boots to finish to look! Layering a vest, suede or corduroy jacket for added interest!
Dress in layers!
In the image below, the mom-to-be is wearing snow boots and leggings under her gown, but with my editing skills, I was able to edit them out. She also wore a puffer jacket in between shots. For kids, I recommend long underwear, earth-tone or neutral gloves, beanies, or fluffy earmuffs and scarves! When kids are warm at photo sessions, I can capture their real smiles, and we may even be able to play in the snow.
Winter props:
Bringing a cozy blanket, which is a cute way to wrap kids up and cuddle with your little ones too! Bringing hot cocoa can also keep kids happy and even better when it’s in festive mugs!
